This is a molecule of magnesium attached to a molecule of malic acid.
Malic acid is a naturally occurring organic acid that’s made by living organisms. It is present in the body often as a byproduct of various enzymatic reactions. It is also present in many fruits, lending to their sour taste.
We believe that magnesium glycinate is superior in terms of overall bioavailability, but everyone is different. Some find that Magnesium malate is more energizing and magnesium bisglycinate is more calming, so they prefer one for the morning and the other for the evening. The amount of magnesium is different per serving between the two formulas as well.
